I stopped buying the school pictures a few years ago after almost all my kids needed retakes for strange things like being diagonal in the photo! So we buy the class photo and Tim and I try our hand with our old digital, nothing fancy camera. It works, most of the time! I actually did a little more cropping and I turned them black and white when I made prints.

You guys do a great job! I also gave up on school pics a few years back for the same reason--but it is so hard to get everyone in to a studio (they only let you use one coupon per visit!) I don't think I could get decent pictures if I took them. Then the schools got a new photographer last year and they sent home the proofs--they were great and cheap! So I bought them instead of dragging everyone in to a studio. I was set--except we moved! So I tried the school photographer here this year with not too impressive results. Ugh! It's back to the studio for me.
I need to learn to take pictures like that...great shots!
