Our St. Patrick's Day

So we had Lucky Charms for breakfast--not too exciting. I have a friend who colors the milk green, my kids would die! The kids found candy in their shoes left by the leprechauns and Zane made a leprechaun trap at preschool and found candy in it instead of a leprechaun--they are so tricky! They were out of corned beef at our local grocer so I got steak and we had corn, red potatoes, green Jell-o (Gwen helped me with that) and rainbow sherbet floats. We took some of our neighbors mint brownies. Tim thinks I am so weird to celebrate it but hey it makes great memories and breaks up the monotony of everyday dinners! We are so lucky we can do this kind of thing!

P.S. Will you send me the link to Curtis' blog? I checked and didn't get the e-mail. Mom was surprised and said she didn't get it either!

Oh, I wish I would have thought of the mint brownies. Yum! Kev is the same way, I think he wonders why I do celebrations for everything...Dr. Seuss' b-day, St. Patricks day, 1st day of spring. Memories and a step away from the mundane. You and me are on the same page! Keep it up!!!

Ok, we were boring and didn't do anything (but a neighbor brought us some green shamrock cookies!)but you and Amy are inspiring me to do better next year. A long time ago when the older kids were little I had them decorate little boxes and put them on a windowsill in the moonlight the night before St. Patrick's Day. In the morning the boxes were gone and they had to follow the green trail to find where they were hidden. They had treats in them left by the leprechauns. I fully intended to make it a tradition, but we didn't! It was fun that one year, though! I agree that it is always fun to do something different--breaks up the monotony! Why not celebrate if we have an excuse to do it?!
