Pew Family Year In Review 2023

So I gave into technology and I had CHATDPT write our year in review. The first version was SUPER corny but this version is sort of corny 😉 I hope you enjoy it.

Well, folks, it's that time of the year again when I find myself scratching my head, wondering what in the world to share from the past 12 months. Looking back is a hoot, and I promise you, we've got our fair share of blessings. But, life isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Some of our challenges are hidden deeper than Waldo in a sea of candy canes.

I'm here to give you the skinny – and it's not because I want to brag about how wonderful our life is. I'm doing it for posterity's sake. Posting updates used to be as regular as clockwork, but it felt like hauling a mountain up Everest with a spoon. Now, I stick to a once-a-year gig, so you won't get a Christmas card with a side of novella. If you're curious about what's happening in our lives, well, you're here. If not, at least I'm not adding to your recycling pile. 😁

Now, onto the Pew family adventures:

  • Taran and Lisa: They've got a brand new addition to the family – baby Eden showed up on Labor Day. Adrian, a sage 6-year-old, and Quinn, a curious 3-year-old, are still causing havoc in Provo, Utah.

  • Timo and Megan: Megan's gone all marine biologist, studying dolphins in Jacksonville. Their 2-year-old prodigy, Autumn, is already drafting scientific papers. They're holding the fort down in St. Augustine, Florida.

  • Emily and Sam: She threw a wedding bash with Sam in April. Sam's now a remote-working grad, and Emily's marching towards her Fashion Design graduation on December 14th. The plan is to set up shop in Utah after the cap and gown.

  • Izak: He's juggling BYU's Flex-GE program, a fresh gig at Orem City, and dropping beats on Spotify and Apple Music. Don't miss out – look up "IZAK."

  • Micah and Cherish: He tied the knot with Cherish in June. Both of them are playing the BYU student game while handling part-time work. Provo is their playground.

  • Zane: Elder Pew hit the one-year mark in October. Most of his time has been in Scotland, but at the moment, he's in Ireland, maybe drumming up some future recruits.

  • Gwen: She's behind the wheel, with catering and a stint at a fruit stand on her resume. Her schedule's packed with school events – dances, games, cultural festivals, club happenings, you name it.

  • Tim: Still belting it out in the Tabernacle Choir (weekly Sunday broadcast and more at The Tabernacle Choir youtube channel), he missed out on a Mexican tour due to a non-COVID-related ailment. But he's still holding the fort at Family Search and indulging in tennis, basketball, pickleball, walking, hiking, and even jump roping. And don't forget his avian fan club at the office window.

  • Rachelle: She's survived not one but two weddings and lived to tell the tale. Assisting her mom's move to an assisted living facility was a herculean task, but they nailed it. On top of that, she's a grandkid-sitter extraordinaire, teaches Gospel Doctrine to the adults, and has added pickleball and jump roping to her morning routine.

In the midst of all this, we had ourselves a good ol' Pew Family Reunion in Spring City, Utah. Grandma Pew, the family ringleader at 87 (now 88), managed to wrangle as many of us as possible. We went hiking, dabbled in some lake activities, played games, and took the plunge into the reservoir. Catching up and getting to know each other all over again was a blast. Since our last reunion, we've added a bunch of marriages, births, and all that jazz.

We also got into some home improvement shenanigans. It all started with a gift card and snowballed into a four-month-long renovation project. There are still boxes lurking around, but we're loving the refreshed family room.

Oh, and let's not forget our Caribbean escapade on a Princess Cruise. It was a sweet deal from the COVID-cancelled Alaskan cruise. We even scored a free upgrade to a balcony room. Tim's proudest achievement was consuming ice cream twice a day, and we got up close and personal with some monkeys in the Dominican Republic. Sadly, my dream of swimming with stingrays got washed away, but we met some fabulous people and are itching for our next cruise adventure.

Our Florida pitstop was a blast, visiting Timo, Megan, and Autumn. No entourage this time, but we made it for Autumn's birthday and avoided the Disney World crowds. We explored beaches, Jacksonville, and St. Augustine, and it was a real hoot. We're already missing them and can't wait for a repeat.

So there you have it, the latest chapter in the Pew family saga. Until next year, keep the adventures coming, and if you can't find any, at least grab an ice cream cone or two! 🍦✌️

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours! We hope you feel the love of our Father in Heaven and our Savior, His son, Jesus Christ! We know they love you!!! The Pews
